Hello,
My name is Noell Ratapu,
My mountain is Maungahaumi
My land is Mangatu
My river is Waipaoa
My tribe is Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga a Mahaki
My name is Noell Ratapu, and I am a 24-year-old Queer, Indigenous, neurodivergent, and Disabled artist from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (type 3), I have been using a wheelchair since the age of 11. My condition has significantly shaped my perspective and inspired my creative journey.
I specialize in digital art, clay work, and photography, and each medium allows me to express different facets of my identity and experiences.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I am deeply passionate about activism. I believe that art is a powerful tool for change, and I use my creative expression to advocate for social justice, accessibility, and the rights of marginalized communities.
My work aims to challenge perceptions, provoke thought, and inspire action. Through my art and activism, I strive to create a more inclusive and equitable world. I am committed to using my voice and talents to make a positive impact and to uplift those who are often overlooked or silenced.
